AGWE
Just finished Agwe. Gotta figure out how to transport these pieces without breaking them and them putting them together in NOLA but it's a start.
Am having very productive conversations with the installation people. Sounds like Jules wants to blow up a the NY Times article about the "Corpse on Union Street" into a 6'x6' photo - ought to be compelling!

I'm started to feel overwhelmed with logistical questions. As a performance group, we're meant to pick sites, but it sounds like the installation group has already got keen ideas for images that are already sites. . .
Is this being coordinated from on high? I'm starting to have nightmares about a the performance group choreographing an amazing tap dance (not really kidding here) to do in front of a site that hasn't made it into the script, while the installation group makes gorgeous art work (Lisa, you humble me!) that really isn't the best medium for tap dancing.
I wonder if the installation folks should drive the selection of the sites, since they are the ones who are actually MAKING stuff? Just a thought.
Hey Meg--
It is overwhelming isn't it?! I hope our individual work groups can follow their passions (including something such as tap) as the case may be as long we we're willing to adjust when we're on site. (Maybe the happy tap dance you choreographed becomes a slow-mo, sad thing or it's used as an interlude between scenes, maybe it's part of the finale or maybe we dump the idea altogether... I think we may have to be quite open).
I'm still not sure how we'll be able to display things. It may be that the installation is sort of a separate thing and pieces of it are taken out to be performed with or in front of? I'm not sure how integrated installation and set are going to be. It'll be interesting to see how it all comes together!
Right now, I'm just thinking about possibilities while I make and collect items for the installation.
I do hope we're not setting everything in stone pre-conference. We all probably want to "Re:act" to our experiences in NOLA and include our reactions in the performance, script and installation.
That said, I think we all need to come with some strong ideas we could, might, will work with.
I don't know how everyone else is thinking about the work but there's my dos pesos.

Lisa,
Your take on Agwe is just beautiful! And inspiring. Thank you for your work on those mosaics. The idea of reconciling the water and love is very helpful to me as I am working on my script section.
